Before enabling this feature, lets take a more in-depth look at how it works. For starters, this feature works from the customer’s email address. When the first commission is created for the affiliate, we write customer data from your cart/checkout integration. That data includes the customer’s email address. As recurring billings occur, iDevAffiliate is continually pinged with the customer data for possible commission creation. If you’re using this feature, we’ll look for the customer’s email address on any existing commissions (pending/approved/paid) and if found, we’ll decline to write new further commissions. Hence, a one-time only commission was created at the time of signup and all further commissions are declined.
Now, also understand, by nature of this feature, you’re also restricting just one commission per customer, on all sales. Not just recurring billings. Meaning, if you’re selling products for example, along with your subscriptions and memberships, enabling this feature will also prevent additional commissions from being created if customers come back at a later time and purchase more products.
This feature was in fact designed for our customers selling recurring subscriptions/memberships who only want to issue a one-time commission at initial signup. By nature of its design, the caveat is, it will also only allow one commission per customer no matter the type of sale whether its a product or subscription.
NOTE: To use this feature, you must be using an integration that includes email address tracking as an option. Most these days do and all the popular integrations do for sure, but click here to check or contact support and we can let you know if what you’re using is compatible.
